Help & Guides / Office / Put a crew together and give pilots a seat
A crew is the people on one job. Build it on Office › Work › Field › Crews from your roster or one of your Teams, then assign missions in the project's "Team" box and watch each pilot's progress there. Each pilot uses their own SkySuite login, sees the job under Field › Missions › Assigned to me, and doesn't need a seat. Seats on Settings › Team › Members & Seats are for people who work inside your account; removing a member opens one up.
There are two ways to bring a pilot in. Crew them onto a job when they fly for you for a while: they see that job, and nothing else of yours. Give them a seat when they work inside your account day to day. Most hired pilots only need the first.
Your standing network lives in two places: your roster (everyone you work with, each with their function; see Add people to your roster) and your Teams (pilot groups; see Teams). A crew is the part of that network you send to one job.
People already on SkySuite land on the project straight away. Anyone not on SkySuite yet shows as “Invited” in the project’s “Team” box (below); type their email there and click “Invite” to send them the invite email. Drawing again adds people to the same crew. The crew shows under “Active crews”; “Wrap” moves it to “Recently wrapped” when the job is done, and leaves everyone’s work in place.
The same box shows each pilot’s progress on their mission: a status such as “en route”, “data uploaded” or “complete”, when they “checked in”, and how many shots are done. You get a notice when they mark a mission complete.
The pilot signs in with their own SkySuite login, with the email you invited (they make one first if they’re new). Their missions are on Field › Missions › Assigned to me · /field/missions/assigned-to-me. They open one for the brief and tap “Check in”, “Start flight” and “Mark complete” as they go; “Take this job offline” saves the brief for no-signal sites.
Settings › Team › Members & Seats · /settings/team/members-and-seats lists your team members, with how many “seats used” at the top. Every member and every invite still under “Pending Invites” holds a seat. The account owner or an admin adds people with “Invite Member” (“Email Address”, “Role”, “Send Invite”). Only the account owner sees “Buy Seats”, and the cost shows there before anything is bought.
Does every pilot who captures for me need their own account? Yes, everyone signs in as themselves, but a pilot crewed onto your job doesn’t use one of your seats. They only see the jobs you put them on.
Can I turn a seat off and give it to the next person? Yes. A seat isn’t tied to one person. On Members & Seats, click “Remove” next to the member: their seat opens up again, and you can invite the next pilot. To take a crewed pilot off a job, open the project’s “Team” box and click “Remove” next to them; their missions there go back to unassigned.
Is a Team the same as my regular network? Close: a Team or your roster is the standing group; the crew is who goes to this job. Pilots from other companies can also connect with you under “Operator connections” on the Crews page.
