Help & Guides / Office / Teams: Join or Start a Pilot Community
Teams are pilot communities inside SkySuite — find one to join, or start your own. They're separate from job-staffing Crews: a Team is a group you belong to, with its own members and an optional group chat.
Teams are the community groups pilots form inside SkySuite — a regional mapping crowd, a shared-interest circle, whatever brings you together. Find them at Office › Community › Community, on the “Teams” tab · /office/community?tab=teams.
A Team is not the same as a Crew: Crews (Office › Work › Field › Crews) are for staffing jobs, while a Team is a community you belong to. Joining or creating one is also a small Flight Path milestone.
Private teams are invite-only and don’t show a join button.
You become the team’s owner. To manage it, click “Manage” on your team’s card. The team page has “Settings” (with “Save settings”), “Join requests” (“Approve” / “Deny”), “Members”, and “Group chat”. Join requests also show on your team’s card on the Teams tab, with “Approve” / “Decline”.
A team’s group chat is opt-in — it isn’t created automatically. On the team page, under “Group chat”, click “Enable group chat”. It then lives alongside your other conversations in Office › Community › Chat (see Chat).
What’s the difference between a Team and a Crew? A Team is a community you belong to. A Crew is for staffing an actual job. The Teams tab says so right at the top.
I requested to join but nothing happened. Join requests wait for a team manager to approve them. Until then your request shows as “Requested”.
Can I make my team invite-only? Yes — set “Visibility” to Private when you create it, or later: click “Manage” on your team’s card, change “Visibility” under “Settings”, and click “Save settings”. Private teams don’t appear with a join button under Discover.
